LOBSTER TRAP CHRISTMAS TREE HISTORY:
SALUTE TO JACK BRADBURY!
Meet Jack Bradbury the previous owner of the lobster traps used for the famous lobster trap Christmas tree at the Portland Regency Hotel & Spa!
Jack was 73 years old and lived in South Portland, Maine. Jack was in the lobster fishing
business for 38 years with his boat Jennifer Joan.
Before lobster fishing, he was a geologist in Missouri and one day while Jack was watching TV he had an epiphany. The TV program guest spoke about
having a midlife crisis and leaving your job to pursue
something out of the ordinary like Lobster fishing. That inspired Jack and as some people would call it, Jack had a calling to do lobster fishing in Maine.
Jack has fished approximately 500,000 lobsters
in his career. The biggest lobsters he caught weighed between 8 to 10 lbs. The farthest he had ever gone to fish lobster was about 6 miles out and 500 lbs was the most he caught in one single day with at least 80 lobsters in one pull. Jack had even caught 4 rare blue lobsters in his career and a few orange with dark spots.
